International Workshop on
Bayesian statistics using OpenBUGS and R

10-14 December 2007, Nashik, Maharashtra, India

Aims of the workshop

  • To make participants familiar with R for statistical analysis,
  • To introduce participants to the use of Bayesian methods, Markov chain Monte Carlo, and their application in OpenBUGS
  • To demonstrate the use of OpenBUGS from R.

General information about the course

  • Day 1 - Basic: to introduce how to handle, manipulate and plot data in R with extensive practical sessions
  • Day 2-5 - to introduce Bayesian thinking, methods, Markov chain Monte Carlo, model building, and their application in OpenBUGS, assessment of models with plenty of practical examples. Also, how to prepare data required for OpenBUGS using R and call OpenBUGS from R.

About 30 participants of varying backgrounds, viz. epidemiologists, medical professionals, statisticians from pharmaceutical industries, software developers, university teachers and postgraduate students.
